Low Fat vs. Whole Milk

The recent headlines that the Illinois State Board of Education is going to ban milk in schools, but allow kids to continue to eat chips, raised many eyebrows. It does sound silly, until you learn that they are really only banning whole milk, in favor of low fat milk, and that the only snack chips that will still be allowed are baked chips that are lower in fat than most other snacks offered in school. Since school age children aren't supposed to be drinking whole milk anyway, this is likely a smart move and may help in the childhood obesity battle.

Review the milk issue and whether you should give your kids whole milk, low fat milk, or skim milk.
