The original peanut butter recall announced last week that involved Trader Joe's has since expanded to include a number of products made with almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter, tahini and roasted blanched peanut products from Sunland, Inc. because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The recall includes, but is not limited to, the following brands:
- Archer Farms
- Earth Balance Natural
- fresh & easy
- heinen's All Natural
- Joseph's Salt-Free No Sugar Added
- Natural Value
- Naturally More
- Open Nature
- Peanut Power
- Serious Food, Silly Prices
- Snaclite Power
- Sprouts
- Sunland
- Dogsbutter
- Trader Joe's
- Harry and David
- Whole Foods Market
- Jer's Chocolates
- Late July Organic Snacks
- Justin's
- Chattanooga Bakery, Inc. Peanut Butter Crunch
- Evolution Fresh (Gretchen's Shoebox Express)
- Fairytale Brownies Peanut Butter Brownies and Cookies
- Oregon Ice Cream Company Alden's Organic and Cascade Glacier ice creams with peanut butter
- Peanut butter products from Falcon Trading Company/SunRidge Farms
From the above list, it is easy to see that the recalled Sunland products, which might be contaminated with Salmonella and which is thought to have gotten 30 people sick in 19 states, are in a lot of other foods. And unfortunately, if this recall is like many of the other large recalls we have seen in recent years, we might expect more foods to be recalled in the coming weeks.
That makes it important to watch your kids for symptoms of salmonella, in addition to getting recall products out of your home.
