The West Nile virus case count went up by 400 cases since last week.
People will be a little more concerned that the number of deaths increased too, from 134 a week ago, to 147 this week.
Fortunately, West Nile virus infections likely peaked already and should continue to slow through the middle of next month.
Still, with a total of 3,545 cases, the most reported to the CDC at this point in the year, I think that we will all be glad when West Nile virus season is finally over. Until then, continue to protect yourself and your kids from mosquito bites and work to control mosquitoes around your home.
