Peanut butter is not a rare source for a Salmonella outbreak.
The latest outbreak, the third since 2007, is likely linked to Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter made with Sea Salt, which has been recalled. The 16 ounce, plastic jars of peanut butter were exclusively sold nationwide at Trader Joe's.
At least 29 people, including 4 who were sick enough to require hospitalization, have gotten sick in 18 states. With a median age of 7 years in the outbreak, parents should be sure to watch their kids for Salmonella symptoms if they have eaten any of the recalled peanut butter.
