The CDC now reports that we are seeing the highest number of West Nile virus disease cases since 2003, with 3,142 cases being reported so far this year.
As we have come to expect, two thirds of the cases have been from just seven states (Texas, Mississippi, Michigan, South Dakota, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and California) with almost 40% coming from Texas alone.
Are you going outside today? Remember, 'a couple of seconds applying an effective repellent to exposed skin and clothing will help everyone stay healthy' and reduce your risk of getting bit by a mosquito that is contaminated with the West Nile virus.
