Today is the last day of National Window Safety Week 2012.
Observed each year during the first full week of April, National Window Safety Week "is designed to heighten the awareness of what can can be done to help keep families safe from the risk of accidental falls or injuries in the home."
Although traditionally window falls are most common during the months of April to September, with a peak during the summer months, unfortunately, the early warm weather has meant an early start to reports of kids falling out of windows.
Remember, about 5,180 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms because of window falls and about 100 children die from falls, including falls from windows. Review the National Safety Council's safety tips to prevent window falls and help spread the word about the importance of keeping kids safe from window falls.
