Although there was a report earlier this week that the Indiana measles outbreak might be waning, the Indiana State Department of Health has confirmed another case of measles.
The 16th case of measles may also have exposed other people to measles at the Woodland Country Club in Carmel on February 9, 10, and 11.
Why did anyone think that the measles outbreak could be over? There was likely hope that since the parents of the 15th case had quarantined the child at home since he had been exposed, then he wouldn't have exposed other people and caused more people to get sick.
Unfortunately, that theory seems to leave out the 14th case which exposed people to measles as late as February 16, which means we might continue to see cases through early March.
These continued reports of measles cases also likely mean that area students who aren't vaccinated against measles will have to stay home a little longer, another consequence of these outbreaks.
