Adventure Playsets is recalling about 240,000 of their Wooden Swing Sets because the "wood in the posts of the fort sections on the swing sets can weaken due to rotting, posing a fall hazard."
There have been at least 500 reports of weakened wood in the 2x4 plastic-coated uprights, including one that led to a fall when the swing set ladder broke. These green or cranberry colored plastic coated vertical or angled 2x 4 wood posts make up the corners of the fort structure.
If you have one of the recalled Adventure Playsets Wooden Swing Sets, don't let your kids play on it until you can replace the posts with a free repair kit.
Recalled swing sets include certain models of their Bellevue, Bellevue II, Belmont, Durango, Durango II, Sedona, Tacoma, Tacoma II, Ventura, Venture II and Yukon swing sets. They were sold for between $300 and $600 at Toys-R-Us, Walmart, Academy Sports, Mills Stores, and Menards from 2004 to 2007.
Some of these same wooden play sets were recalled in 2009 because "plastic coated lumber on the horizontal ladder (monkey bar/swing beam) can weaken over time due to rotting of the whitewood (spruce, pine and fir species), resulting in a fall hazard."
