Flu Season Update

Wednesday February 7, 2007
Child Absent from SchoolIf your kids haven't gotten a flu shot yet, you are likely going to want to take some steps to help them avoid the flu, as flu season has really started to get going.

Although flu season likely hasn't peaked yet, the CDC reports widespread flu activity in eight states, including Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas. In fact, in Texas, we are seeing so much flu that some schools are reporting that about 20% of the students are staying home sick!

If the flu season hasn't come to your area yet and you still haven't gotten your kids a flu shot, then it may not be too late. Since flu season can go on until April, a flu shot now can still provide several months of protection.
