What's going around?

Wednesday January 31, 2007
What's going around? When their kids are sick, parents often want to know what's going around...

And that can be helpful. If you know that everyone else is coming in with strep throat and your own child has a sore throat, then you likely need to get her checked for strep too. Or if your child has vomiting and diarrhea and you know a stomach bug is going around, then you might be a little more reassured that is what he has too.

This time of year, there is usually a little of everything going around. In our own office, we are starting to see a lot of kids with flu symptoms, and still a lot of the old winter childhood classics, incuding strep throat, rotavirus, RSV, croup, and of course, the common cold.
