your baby does not need juice, water and milk are fine. if you introduce your baby to juice they will become hyperactive and will their gums will not benefit. by introducing juice you are just asking for trouble esp in british schools, if it is evident that children have been given juice or soft drinks and they are suffering more often than not a case worker will get involved
I am sorry but the comment by cassandra is a sweeping generalisation with no scientific or practical evidence to back it up.
I know scores of babies who are given juice and NONE of them display hyperactive behaviour or any indication of oral hygeine disorders.
Please refrain from posting groundless and ill-advised comments on a site where parents come for practical solutions.
I think what Cassandra was talking about isn’t wholesome juice but juices that have added sugars and preservatives or softdrinks. It should be clear to parents that in very small writting these products are considered “juice drinks” and contain only a percentage of “Pure Juice” with additives such as Sugar and chemicalized preservatives. When searching for juice for your older infant or toddler, the best thing to do is read the label carefully to ensure wholesome intake of pure juice with no additives.
well put ross….
I have read at around 8 months, %100 juice of course, and dilute it 50/50 with water. %100 fruit juice has a lot of sugar, even if it is not added, fruit has sugar Th in it. They should have no citrus, and absolutely no cows milk until after one year.
