Cord Blood Banks
Wednesday August 3, 2005
There is good news for those who believe that cord blood banking is important and that it should be available to everyone, even parents who can't afford the high fees of private cord blood banks. The Texas Cord Blood Bank has started collecting donated cord blood at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and will hopefully be able to expand the service statewide.
The Texas Cord Blood Bank joins other cord blood banks that accept donations of cord blood across the United States. Hopefully, a new version of The Cord Blood Stem Cell Act of 2005 will be quickly finished and signed into law to help expand the public cord blood bank system even more.
